I've spent the better part of this weekend rereading PPP, as it's been a while since I've laid eyes on the entire manuscript. My outline for revisions is completely done as of ten minutes ago, when I finished reading the very last chapter and a certain song came on my iTunes.
I always read and write with music on, and I usually forget about it, but for some reason, this song just fit too perfectly and I had to stop and listen.
The last scene of PPP ends in the pumpkin patch (naturally), when Noelle receives a surprise visitor who has come to return her shoe. Right when that scene begins, this song hit its stride. You know when you're in a certain mood and something comes on the radio or on shuffle that just matches what you feel exactly? That's what happened here. Another piece to add to my dream PPP soundtrack!
This is Danna Devotchka's wonderful "The Winner Is," from Little Miss Sunshine, one of my favorite movies.
P.S. Sorry for the delay on returning and replying to your comments... I will be on vacation for a week or so, but I catch up!

I love writing with music on too! It gets the juices flowing and I write at a steady pace with music on, too some of the time.
I can't read with the music on...it's a big distraction.
Have a great vacation! :)
I write to music as well, and yes, a certain couple songs will just stick to scenes like glue.
I love that movie! Good work on finishing up the outline for PPP. :)
This song is great! I love when it comes up on Pandora. And look at you even making an outline for revisions!! So organized! Happy travels!
Whenever I fast draft I do it with my headphones in. I can't do it when I'm revising though.
I love this song! It's so inspiring. And I love your new profile picture. You are stunning Julie!
The more I hear about PPP, the more I want to read it. Just say'n. :)
LOVE your new profile/author picture, Julie!
Little Miss Sunshine is such a great movie.
Hey, Julie,
Hope you've made progress with PPP. I may have music for my mss, but never listen to them while writing.
First off - HUGE CONGRATS on the R&R for your book! That is such awesome news. Best of luck with the revisions!
I can't read or write while listening to music - it pulls me too far out of the characters' world - but, like you, I very closely associate lyrics/songs with writing. Each of my manuscripts has a "soundtrack," and it's amazing how those songs have taken on a new life ever since. I'll never be able to listen to them the same way! :)
Livia: Totally. I can write in silence, but for some reason, music helps keeps the words coming.
Alex: Great description! I have some really "sticky" songs for each story.
Laura: I do, too! Thank you :)
Kristin: I love Pandora! I should think about getting a membership. And I do like my outlines :D
Christina: That's so funny! I listen to music when writing, revising, everything.
Kimberly: Thanks :D I think you are stunning, too!
David: YAY! I feel the same way about WOVEN.
Jay: Thank you so much! Agreed, it's one of my favorite movies.
J.L.: Thanks, it feels good to make progress! A playlist is handy whether you write to it or not!
Workofheart: THANK YOU :D I'm so happy and excited to do these revisions. I think it's great that you have soundtracks for your books, even if you don't listen while writing. Getting inspired away from the writing is every bit as effective :) Good luck with your projects!
