I fell in love with Guillermo del Toro's haunting dark fairy tale, "Pan's Labyrinth," the first time I saw it.
The score, written by Spanish composer Javier Navarrete, received a well-deserved Oscar nomination. I have a feeling I'll be listening to this soundtrack very often when I work on my next YA project, which will have a much darker feel than PPP.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

That's so gorgeous. Thanks for sharing!
Amazing movie. Del Toro is a genius.
Loved this movie. Such a great soundtrack. :)
Haunting and beautiful. I loved it!
I haven't seen the movie. I'm not sure I could listen to the music while I write. I might fall asleep. :(
But either way I can't listen to music while I write. I get easily distracted. :P
ooooooo, that's gorgeous. I would so write to that sometimes.
You pick the best music! :)
Very cool - love it! :)
Beautiful.
Is that a Cello or a violin? Do you play this?
I'd love to hear one of your own solo's sometime.
........dhole
This is amazing! I love how music inspires writing. I love Dark Sanctuary's "La Clameur Du Silence". It has that dark feel but is still beautiful. You should check it out. I downloaded it from iTunes.
It’s actually a great and helpful piece of information. I am happy that you shared this helpful information with us. Please stay us informed like this. Thank you for sharing.
Black music
Most enjoyable, thanks for sharing.
Yvonne.
I have two versions of this song (this and the hummed version), but no other songs from the soundtrack. I'm thinking I might need to remedy that!
Chills as the last note of the final arpeggio rang.
That movie still haunts me.
It's amazing how much music can change our mood, isn't it? I wrote almost exclusively to music with my first book and no music with the one I just finished. But I've found this winter that I need music--it's an instant mood boost.
Emy: Glad you enjoyed it!
Alex: I know, he's amazing! Did you know he's being credited as a writer for the 2012 Hobbit movie?
David: Agreed! I need to watch this film again.
Ciara: Me too - such an eerie yet beautiful score!
Stina: Well, I hope it inspires you if you listen to it before writing! :)
Tricia: Yes, you totally should!
DL: A-thank you.
Jemi: Glad you liked it :)
Donna: It's a violin! You are sweet, but I haven't picked up my violin in a looooong time and it would probably sound extremely unpleasant! :D
Crystal: Oooo thank you for the recommendation! I'm going to YouTube that right now.
Black music: Uh-huh... you're welcome...
Yvonne: Glad you liked it!
Sophia R: I love the hummed version, too. So pretty.
Sophia C: It gives me chills, too! In a good way :)
Stephanie: It really is, and I agree - music just gets me where I need to go when I'm working, whether it's writing, studying, or concentrating on something.
Sounds lovely. I'll have to come back and listen to more later when my computer is running faster (I need to get a new one, grrrr)
Have a wonderful holiday season, Julie!!
Oh, Pan's Labyrinth is one of my *favorite* movies! Absolutely brilliant, as is the music.
And *CONGRATULATIONS* on completing your revisions!! I'm sure it is amazing - I can't wait to read your book! I think we both have a thing for princes/princesses ;)
I love the movie, as well as the music. Thanks for sharing, since I haven't heard it in a while.
You and I have very similar taste in music! Looking forward to your Deju Vu post and later on, I want a full report from Harry Potter world!
Jessica: Yes, please do! It's a gorgeous piece. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season, too!
Charmalot: It's such a masterful piece of artwork, isn't it? Sometimes movies are hyped beyond what they really offer, but this is one of the cases where critical acclaim is well-deserved. And thank you so much for the congrats - congrats to YOU on YOUR progress! I'm going to read your first three chapters as soon as I can, and I'd be honored to have you read PPP eventually!
Medeia: I love both, as well! I've seen so many bad movies with excellent music (Legends of the Fall, anyone?) and good movies with subpar music, so it's nice when the stars align and we get high quality in both the movie and the score.
Margo: I think we do, too! Looking forward to your deja vu post as well, and I promise to take many pictures of Harry Potter World for your viewing pleasure!
Awwwww, I just closed my eyes and let the music surround me and soothe my soul. Totally change my very stressed and spastic mood!
Do ya just love good music???
You have a most blessed and beautiful day sweetie!!! :o)
Nezzy: I'm so glad the music helped you de-stress!
